Individuals looking to start out in a high paying career today should consider the nursing field. There will always be nursing jobs, the job of caring for people cannot be automated, or outsourced. It is a guaranteed field that will always provide employment. There are numerous types of nursing jobs, some do not involve personal care, they are merely paperwork jobs that require a medical background.

Most nurse jobs, however, do require patient are. A nurse can specialize in caring for infants, the elderly, cancer patients, or whomever they feel most comfortable working with. Certain nurses, such as community nurses, will see all types of people. There are jobs for all types of nurses, and a nurse can always switch fields of nursing.

When the economy is poor, people tart to look for jobs that do not experience many layoffs. Most hospitals cannot find enough nurses, nurses are rarely laid off. In fact, at some hospitals, the nursing shortage is reaching critical levels. Health care provides a large percentage of the population with employment, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
The increase in the number of elderly people has created a demand for more nurses.

As we live longer, our health care needs increase. Nurses that specialize in geriatric patient care are in high demand. It is hard work, taking care of people that you can never cure of their chief complaint of old age, but it can be rewarding. You can find ways to make their last years as enjoyable as possible.
