Functions of potassium
The mineral salts of potassium (K “kalium“) are essential for cellular ionic balance. They are involved in functions such as muscle contractions and nerve transmissions. Potassium regulates blood pressure and counteracts intracellular conditions due to excess sodium. An inadequate intake of potassium (hypokalemia or hypokalemia) causes weakness and fatigue, dehydration, diarrhea, cramps, muscle pain or constipation.
