Signs Your Baby Needs a Nappy Change

When you are the first-time parent of a newborn, it can be difficult to keep track of all the times that your baby needs his nappy change d. It’s a constant process of learning to listen to your baby and understand what he is trying to communicate. Here are a few signs that you should look for.

If your baby seems fussy and is crying a lot, chances are that he needs his nappy changed. The wet sensation against the skin is uncomfortable, and leaving a baby unchanged for too long can lead to a rash.

Another sure sign that the baby needs to be changed is the tell-tale aroma. If you start to smell an unpleasant odour, the most likely culpit will be the baby.

Finally, if your baby is sitting on your lap and you feel something damp on your legs, it’s also time for a nappy change. No matter what is inside it, no baby likes a full nappy.

Food goes right through newborns, so you will need to count on changing them regularly, every two to three hours. You don’t need to wait to find out from one of the above signs that a nappy change is due. When the baby is that young, it’s best to just make a schedule and stick to it.

Nappy change is an inevitable part of every parent’s life, unless you have a nanny who takes care of all that for you. Your baby will require about 5000 nappy changes before potty training is complete, so if you are the one doing the changing, you’re going to become an expert at it before too long. While it’s not the most pleasant of tasks, changing nappies is one of the most frequent jobs you will have as a result of your baby.
